The Week of February 18th - February 24th, 2018
This week in class, we are focusing on the following: E L A: The students are reading a text titled, Atlantic, in their Journeys books. The students will be reflecting upon this week's essential question, which is... "In what ways is the Atlantic Ocean special?" Throughout the week, the students will be analyzing and discussing the natural water environment (the Atlantic Ocean) and the many ways it is special. In phonics, we are focusing on decoding CVC words through sound cards and extending our learning by reviewing all of the vowel sounds. MATH: This week we continue our quest into simple addition. The students are using manipulatives in class to extend their learning and delve deeper into the properties of addition. We will continue to explore and master this concept throughout the week. *PLEASE NOTE: YOUR CHILD WILL HAVE A TEST ON SIMPLE ADDITION ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 23rd. NOTE: With each new lesson we go over in class, your student should complete the same lesson from the packet at home. To reinforce these new concepts and to help keep your student on pace at home, please be sure you are helping them with this packet nightly. SCIENCE: This week we continue learning about magnetism and more specifically, attract and repel. SOCIAL STUDIES: This week in Social Studies the students will continue to explore important African Americans throughout history with our study of Black History Month. |
